Irish SWOS championship Jan 21st
« on: 11 January 2017, 12:27:27 »
Hi guys,
The Irish Amiga community is holding a one day event on Jan 21st , full details here:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360865314260718&set=gm.1779413405714221&type=3&theater

There will be a swos tournament and an Irish champion. Can this event be designated the official SWOS Irish championship?  Are there specific rules for being an official tournament?

It would be great to have the blessing of the official Swos community.

Thanks,
Danny.

If your goal is to have results added to the Amiga offline world ranking I guess you don't need much more than the Swos version based on the 95/96 or 96/97 version (You can use the new updated teams 16/17 or superteams). Pitch and time rules are your own choice. Usually tournament games are played at 3-7 mins depending on the organizer.

At the world cup we have been using the original 96/97 teams, 3 min. games and random pitch. Usually 2 legs in Knockout stage. Free team choice (clubs and nations).

But in the end every Swos tournament is welcome. Great to see Swos is still played in Ireland! :)

djowGer has covered most of the needed info.

Plus, if you want to have the results entered on the website, we'd need all results in written form (including participants nicknames).
So, at best, people should have an account registered.
Example:

Great effort, Danny.
I could send a newsletter to all Irish users, to attract more people.

Haven't heard about any other Irish SWOS event so I believe it is safe to call yours a Championship. Unless a challenger appears but that would be awesome! ;)

Just to clarify, this isn't my event, I'm just an attendee :)

Playaveli, would you be so kind as to email all the Irish members here? That would be very much appreciated. The more the merrier.

Hey everyone, thanks for posting and sharing this, I'm running the SWOS comp in Athlone this Saturday, very excited for it!

Quick note one Jon Hare before I forget to mention, he's not going to be in attendance, but he will be doing a Skype interview with us. David Pleasance and other Amiga big wigs will be at the event though :)

I really appreciate you allowing this to feature as an Irish Championships, it's something I've wanted to do for such a long time, so hopefully after this, it's something that can be done a bit more regularly and I'll be sure to let you all know well in advance about it!

For the actual running and ranking of it, am I right in saying that for a player to feature in the ranking, they need to have a account set up here? I'll keep record of the games played and the names of the players and I'll let people know in advance that they need to create an account if they want to be recorded.

Of the off chance, if someone wins who isn't registered, does that make the competition ineligible? Just asking in case.

We're gonna be playing on SWOS 96/97 on the day.  Anything specific that I need to provide you with, just let me know.

Thanks again, keep up the great work, delighted to see such a great SWOS community thriving!

Won't be a problem, we can register him afterwards.

As Micha said, make sure to save (write down!) all results, of every match, in every tournament stage (groups / KO rounds..., whatever you decide on the format).

We're gonna be playing on SWOS 96/97 on the day.  Anything specific that I need to provide you with, just let me know.

96/97 is perfect!
Thanks to you, for all your effort with the tournament. Great to have one taking place in Ireland!

Hello everyone, we had our SWOS tournament on Saturday at the Amiga Ireland meet up, was great craic! There were 16 players in the competition and we did a straight knock out competition, using countries from 96/97. We played 3 minute games until the final which was 5 minutes. I gave newer players first choice of teams and the more experienced players had last choice, to try and keep it as fair as possible. The draw was made out of a hat then.

Some players were newbies and some were really really good! I ended up winning it, after some tough games and a really tight final against Lucasz  Mulczynski. He took the lead but I pulled it back to win 2-1, can't believe how nervous I was, hands were shaking and everything!  ;D

I have a sheet with all the details; players, the countries they chose and the scores of each game. Will I email them onto someone or post them somewhere here?

Thanks very much
