Title: BAAH 4 - Last Edition
Post by: Bomb on 23 March 2019, 16:37:04
Hi players,

I will do an Amiga offline tournament at 18. May 2019 in my home. We wil start 12:00 h. Arrival at Friday is possible.
Unfortunately you probably definitely have to consider it as the last BAAH* session. SO IF YOU NEVER JOINED, YOU SHOULD!!!

Up to 10 players can sleep in my flat for free, but it would be good when players could bring sleeping equipment.
(I have 2 beds, 2 couches, 3 matraces and at least 4 blankets which needs to be distributed wisely.)
Maybe ElMichaJ also can house some players, if not, we'll find a solution.

There are no worries about food and drinks because there are many and near possibilites to get some (just around the corner).

I have 2 running Amiga Systems (if you bring them :D ) if we need to play on 2 machines.

Since it is the last edition, we'll do some special stuff:
1) Tournament rule will be SensiDays style (tactics and KO round stuff...).
Tournament mode will depend on how many players will join, but if we are enough I guess we'll have a group stage and after that a Super Group and 2. Chance Group (followed by KOs).
All group stages will be played in DIY Leagues, because injuries and cards can be an interesting factor. :P

2) I want to play a Dynablaster Tournament after the SWOS event. So do NOT plan to go to some Pub in the city, there will be no time! Besides that: Berlin is boring!
The Dynablaster Tournament of course is optional for everyone. I'll work on a strategy how we do it quick and dirty with ELmichaJ (hey hey hey... ).

Not sure how many Cups can be won, but it will be at least 3 for every tournament!

Any Questions left?

Looking forward to meet you!

Greetings from Berlin!

Max

Any news here?

Who have signed-up for sure and who is probably comeing?

Bomb (sure!!!)
ElMichaJ (porbably!?)
lobo (sure?)
andib (sure!!!)
Djowger (sure!!!)
HairFU (sure!!!)
xflea (sure!!!)
blazej (sure!!!)

By the way, do you have a Windows PC that can connected to you LCD TV? In that case we could install Sky Go App and I can log in with my Sky password to see last matchday of Bundesliga. Probably it will be close race for championship and so it would be nice to watch it :) (if title race and other interessting places are allready decided, there is no need to watch it)

@hairfu: My tv has has some problem with hdmi, but probably it would work with vga. if it does not work, we watch Sportschau at 18 h. also a good time to eat...

I think Kindleloony will also join...

Maybe not need to watch it, as it seems Dortmund has lost the title yesterday ;) If needed, I can offer to bring my PC Monitor with me to have a live picture via. sky (you know I am a live football viewer, sportschau is not really inetressting for me as I allready know that it's all over).
For sure I am there to play some SWOS and live football only a side note. And for me this year 2. Bundesliga is much more intererssting, as booth professional clubs from Hamburg playing on 2nd level ;)

@hairfu: cool, please do so. (I am not a fan of live-conferences, because when I do, I not see a single live goal there ... :P - if other people like this, pls go straight forward :) )

I agree. I watch 95% single matches, but allways live (I also not like live-conference). Best would be to have something like Telekom have offer a few years ago. You choose a live game and add some other games you are interessted in but you see only goals of other match. Let's say if on day of BAAH4 Dortmund or Bayern can win Bundesliga Championship I will bring my monitor with me and then we can choose to watch a single match or live-conference. If championship allready is decided I leave my monitor at home as it doesen't matter to watch it or not.

Thought the same, because I checked some flight options for BAAH next weekend - unfortunatelynot really attractive time- and moneywise ...

From What I see from Köln/Bonn to Berlin Tegel and back home 81 Euro if you can go on friday morning :) But other times are expensive, I agree.

So I will start my journey on morning of Saturday.

I will bring the following things:

- 1x Amiga 1200
- 1x 14" CRT TV
- 2x extension cable for Amiga Joytsicks/Gamepads
- 1x AMIGA RGB to Scart cable
- 1x 20m AV Out Cable (gives us the chance to watch SWOS games on other TV/Monitor if wished while players can see game on normal Amiga Monitor)
- a few (real) Disks to save games and have edit custom teams
- a 32" LCD TV to watch Bundesliga final matchday (if wished)
- a small device to have Bundesliga running and watch on TV (Wifi is needed to connect to internet)

Do we need custom teams on a real floppy?
Do you have a few power strips or is it better to bring one or another with me?

Did I forget something we need?

@klaris: super nice! really happy to have you in berlin.

@andy: c'mon!!!!!! :P

@hairfu:
1) if you can make one or two disks with the current online savedisk, it would be great.
2) can you bring a 5-player-adapter for amiga (for dyna blaster)?
3) I have enough verteiler! you dont need to bring

@all:
1) everyone who can: please bring his own sleeping stuff. if not possible, we will find a solution.
2) for all players arriving friday: I will be at home earliest at 16 h. anyone needs information about the location?
3) food and drink can be bought in the supermarket (100 m by feet), I will sponsor a box of beer and some soft drinks

4) and last but not least: seeing that line-up is awesome  :o ... but in same time it makes me think like klaris: I better go for the dyna blaster cup!   ;D

see you all in a few days!

I do not own a Multiplayer Adaptor for Amiga. Instead I could bring my Sega Mega Drive with me and bring Multiplayer Adaptor with me and we play Mega Bomberman (it is the more superior Version to Dynamblaster). Other Solution we play Saturn Bomberman on Emulation. Here you can play up to 16 Players on  the same time.

Ah for the Bomberman Tournmanet. Would be great to play in it. But my plan is to leave latest at 23:59 if SWOS is finsihed then.

@hairfu: regarding savedisk: cool, thank you! regarding dynablaster: elmichaj and djowger bring adapters for dynablaster. I think this will be enough.

@all: please keep in mind that I want to start the tournament at ~12 h !

Hey guys,

thx for joining this great tournament! Congratz to Blazej, Djowger and ELmichaJ!

It has been quite exhausting which I could see in the reactions of my workmates as soon they saw me when I stepped in the company... but it was definitely worth it!

It was a lot of fun, beer, and SWOS with the hardest group stage I ever played ... also the Dynablaster cup was very cool! Thx everyone for coming and supporting (especially Hairfu and Djowger), this is a great community!

See you all in Fulda!

it was a great tournament again :) really high skilled group.

i liked to play in a big group without DIY League for all but for the 2 matches against each opponent.
we had 3 stations and groups stage was really fast. 4 hours for 11 players ... well that was nice.

a bit luck for me in the kos :) but i know, sometimes this happens to me :D

thx to bomb for organizing

dynablaster cup was also nice ... but next time we play like djowger said ... maximum 4 players (cause sometimes keyboard 5th player is to hard)
its not easy to invent a tournament structure for that

I can fully agree. It was a great tourament (even if I suck at SWOS on this day). Great organisation and very smooth and fast forward.
For me I felt that it is not easy to get in competition mood if I am not 100% motivated (and it is most times when it gets warm outside). But that does not mean, that I did not enjoy the day (what I 100% did). It just destroyed my results, but it is not to important for myself, what ranking said. I hope I will get back my motivation to play SWOS on a high level.

At the end of the day I liked the Dynablaster tournament a lot. It was some kind of fresh air and was really fun. I would be in if someone would do a day full of small tournaments with different retro games then SWOS :)

Was a nice event indeed. Perfect training for days. Of course blazej was once again too strong for everyone else but at least not undefeated this time. Congrats for the win and also Micha for the third place.
A very fast group stage despite being 11 players.

Enjoyed the dynablaster tournament but 5 players are too much, and the key player often has his controls stuck. Other than that it was very hectic and fun. I think only Klaris didn't like it 😉

Thx for hosting us Max! It is always a pleasure to visit you and Micha in Berlin. :)
