Appeal to UK players for Amiga Joysticks!
« on: 04 February 2008, 10:41:29 »
Hi guys

This is an appeal to all UK players who have any spare Amiga joysticks that they no longer need. I am seeking for any working Competition Pro's / Zipstick's. Also, and this is a long shot, if anyone can remember The Bug joysticks that they no longer want then please get in touch, either reply here or PM me.

Cash is waiting!!

Cheers

On ebay they come quite cheap. Have you checked over there?

Buying competition pro joysticks is pretty easy. Ebay is a place like Playa mentioned or you can buy new ones for around 15EUR from vesalia.de for example.
Zipsticks are also available regularly on ebay.

So none of these should be hard to aquire. Don't know what are the bug joysticks that you mention.

Yeah I do see a few on Ebay and that's one line that I'm pursuing. The new re-issue Competition Pro (both 9 Pin and USB) just aren't the same as the originals. They are too prone to breaking and the feel is different.

So yeah, I'm basically after any Competition Pros, Zipsticks or a Bug if you have one!

For those that don't know what Bug Joysticks are - here's a pic!

Ah, that's the bug! I remember now, could never play with one of those though ;D
They also show up on ebay from time to time and they usually don't sell for much either, it's just a matter of being alert.

I don't have any for sale, sorry. Ebay really is your best option I think. At least that's where I bought all the pythons I needed dirt cheap.

yeah used to love The Bug - the only problem was that it was one of the quickest to break - very fragile - but could use it with sensi and have great control of the players!

In that  case that won't work. You need an Amiga/Atari port to USB converter, there's one called stelladaptor, you can google for it. Or you can search ebay for some custom made ones that are cheaper.

Very easy solution, just buy a Amiga Joystick to Gameport adaptor and then buy a Gameport to USB adaptor (for example you can find it very very often at ebay -> http://ngvi.ebay.co.uk/vi?ngvi&backtoid=3&ppsp=0&li=0&pdp=0&sspagename=WDVW&dsr=1&item=370039252442&backto=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3Dusb%2Bgameport&pass=tJsxi6e4LvL%2B94REGNl4YrgFqB0%3D ).
I use that solution for evry SWOS online match, no problems, evrything works fine.

Don't you notice some delay when using that combo setup HairFU? I've tryed it as well, but when playing offline I notice some delay that normally shouldn't be there. Maybe my gameport to USB adaptor isn't working perfectly...

Maybe there are some delays (USB have more delay then gameport, but thats normal for USB and it is very small delay and normaly it is to small for noitce it as a human). I ever notice that is a different, more directly control, on real amiga when i have long time don't play on amiga. But for me it is absolut no problem and i don't feel a delay most notably because the online gaming have a delay of 15 to 30 ms (depends on the server).
