I think the players are slightly over rated. AFAIK weekly wages are calculated depending on player ratings. Too many white star players. In the original, Roy Keane was only a big Yellow star, and he was just about the best midfielder around at the time (coming from a Liverpool fan!)
In fact, Man Utd only had 4 white star players in their squad and they were winning everything at that time.
In the update they have 9 white stars, even though their team is crap now!
With so many over rated players, and no increase in prize money (income), the financial side of things in career mode must be really unbalanced?
P.S. not a criticism of the guys who edited the players! I know there was an agreed upon lookup table for value/stars. Just observing that the original game seemed a bit more conservative in handing out the stars, so teams weren t crippled by wages after a few weeks.

I think that is really good, because it will force you to try out cheaper players, or play with some trailists / reserve players.
Some challenge, at least!
And also, this is a good reflection of reality. How big is the debt mountain of Real, Barca and the likes? And why? Think about it... and do it better in your career!
PS: Surely, we will reconsider the price/value table for the next update, if we do one!

It is probably not error. SWOS is made so, that your expences are higher as your income. Not only in big clubs.
Example: Slovan Bratislava in SWOS96 had Gate receipts +140 k, General running costs -160 k, Player wages bill -51k = -69 k Total loss by home matches. And by matches away it was -211 k Total loss.
In SWOS16 is money in Slovan (squad is much weaker now as was in 1996) +60 k - 48 k - 15 k = - 3 k Total loss at home. And -63 k Total loss by away matches.
Sometimes are cost by 25 % lower, so sometimes weekly balance can be small +.
I don t know how it calculates, but sadly money is going down from beginning of season.
