Players characteristic was created by GeertPoels
Hello,

I m starting out with the Barcelona B team (seconda division).

I ve been looking at the SWOS player database to buy an extra player.
What exactly do some of the qualities of a player stand for? (VC)
Like for instance the power quality? How does that manifest itself during play?
Some have the ball glued to their feet? Is that the control quality?

What qualities does a good defender need? Tackle to begin with?

What player quality defines if a player looses the ball to another player when there is contact?
Some players have stars. Is it possible to have a reserve player get better and better and acquire these stars? ;D

Thanks for all feedback!

P = passing ability (longer and more precise passes)
C = ballcontrol (good dribbling quality, but none in swos have ball glued to their feet like in fifa/pes - also note some pitches makes you lose the ball more often like icy/muddy)
V = Velocity (shotpower)
S = Speed!!!
T = Tackling (slides and passive)
F = Finishing (an extra powerful shot within the box)
H = Heading

Check out the entire swos database here: swos.gazchap.com/ or here: database.swoes.info/

0 is worst value and 7 is max. It is also a double scale, meaning 0=8, 1=9, 2=10 .... 7=15.

Here is the stats of your team btw: swos.gazchap.com/index.php?region=3 league=15 teamid=125

Like for instance the power quality? How does that manifest itself during play?

If P, this is Passing, not power.

Some have the ball glued to their feet? Is that the control quality?

Yes some players have better control than others. But even a player with max C 7/15 can loose the ball. If you put a player in the wrong position he will not play his full potential. For example Maldini (LB) in Attack will feel slower than a normal attacker, even if he has max skills in all areas.

What qualities does a good defender need? Tackle to begin with?

THS is prefered i guess. Tackling, Heading and Speed. Like Brazil national defenders Aldair/Ronaldao. I also like defenders with passing and control, but not many of them in the game, with full speed.

What player quality defines if a player looses the ball to another player when there is contact?

I would say the tackling ability, and optimal player positions as primary reasons to win the ball.

Some players have stars. Is it possible to have a reserve player get better and better and acquire these stars? ;D

Well in Career mode they have values instead of stars. And here they can get better and better, if you place them in the optimal positions (usually you need a custom tactic to achieve this though)

Btw. check out this interview with game creator Jon Hare made by Retrieving: www.sensiblesoccer.de/forum/index.php?topic=24921.0

I reveal a little secret, a defender in midfield with HPS put back in the 4-4-2, it s a good thing you ll see, even with other tattiche.poi that I am a bit fanatical of young people in youth, I make the whole team of young that offers you the computer, with names mixed up ... those, you ll have fun.

ps: the 442 most midfielder ahead with PHT or similar HTP - PTH, you ll see that good. 8)

And what about a reserve player (RES) that turns out to be really good?
Is there a way to check his values?
To be accessed via the database tool?

I think the only way is to use a program called a HEX editor, and open your *.car file. The reserve players are randomly created during the career.
