No Sound Effects on Windows ME

Hi
I am trying to play SWOS 96/97 PC-Version on my notebook Toshiba Satelite 4030. So far I managed to install everything even a USB-Gamepad. I can play the game now. The only problem I can t fix is that there are no sound effects. I was able to install the music under the install menue. But it would t get an installation of the sound effects no matter if I try automaticly or the manual choice... The soundcard of my notbook seems to be ESS Maestro 2...

Is anybody able to help me? ???
