GROUP OF DEATH

I never thought it s possible, but I was wrong.

You can become European Champion not winning any of your games. You can even afford to loose one.

I will use Euro 2008 Group Of Death as example.

If:

Italy - France 1-1 (or any other draw, it s not relevant)
Netherlands - Romania 2-0 (or any other win less than 3 goals)

Table:

1. Netherlands 9pts 9-1 +8
2. Romania 2pts 1-3 -2
3. France 2pts 2-5 -3
3. Italy 2pts 2-5 -3

Romania qualifies and draws KO games, winning on penalties all the way to the final.

Just find it interesting.

If someone wins Sensible Days without winning any game (only draws in group and then penalties) I will run naked through Pirmasens.

well if Italy vs France ends with 1-1 (or 2-2, 3-3, 4-4....) and Holland beats Romania then Italy will be runner up of this group A points table will be created without Holland then

Didn t know that. But I find this rule really stupid. Supposing Romania fights like lions and conceedes injury time goal they go out.
They shared points with Italy and France and didn t get crashed by Holland like other two, still they fail to qualify.
It s unfair imo.
