J.League vintage... was created by w_imus
Hello everyone,
I m a long-time SWOS fanatic, and this is my first post!
As a faithful J-League follower, I ve always been unhappy about the bad Japanese league datas on the original 1996/97 SWOS.
Therefore I decided to update the TEAM.055 file, changing not only the team names, but mainly focusing on the players and their roles... well, updating isn t maybe the right word, since the whole data file refers to the 1995 season!
I did that using the true technical profiles of the players founded on various internet sites, and also the Japanese wikipedia!
I hope you ll like my work... enjoy!

off the top of my head:
you got it mostly right (if my memory serves me well there s a few incongruences here and there regarding roles/tactics but SWOS forces you to make a lot of compromises in that sense because there are only so many players in a roster/default tactics - as a matter of fact Mitsubishi FC definitely didn t use 442 back then and Bein wasn t a full-blown attacker either, more like an attacking midfielder/fantasista), where d Ruy Ramos go though... ;D
That being said there s lots of nice little touches that make the update worthwhile and definitely legit...I really like how you made Kazuaki Tasaka blonde haha, speaks volumes about the efforts you put into this thing. Bonus points for picking a Golden era year for the update, too.
Also, didn t look into the stats yet but there s a bunch of players that IMHO deserved at least a tiny yellow star, players such as Ihara, Akita, Soma, Yajin Okano, Mr Reds Fukuda (he won the top-goalscorers list that year), Kitazawa, Maezono, Morishima, Dely Valdes, Go Oiwa, Shoji Jo, Nakanishi, Gon Nakayama, Massaro, Nanami, Fujita, etc.
We should make a J.League Legends update sometimes, been wanting to do something of the likes for a while now but never actually gotten around doing it due to lack of time/help (you should check my Urawa Reds allstar in the ss.de database)
EDIT: here s my J.League 2010 update btw: www.sensiblesoccer.de/forum/index.php?to...56.msg95222#msg95222

Thank you!
Retri, you are right, I had to make some compromises, for example I knew about Uwe Bein as a trequartista , but since he made a lot of goals in that season I thought that using a 4-5-1 formation could be too restrictive for the good attack players of Urawa Reds
As for the tiny yellow star, it s true that those Japanese players never proved themselves outside Japan, then I thought I couldn t inflate too much their actual value; so, the best Japanese player in the file is still King Kazu, who - by the way - was very unlucky in his Italian experience, having his face broken in the first match : (
Thanks for the link!
PS: Greeting from Turin, I live there
