Consider uploading your edited dataset to swosdata.higgis.at to share.
Maybe other people agree with you and will grab your dataset to use in their own games.

Hi, the following players in the Premier League should be black:-
Arsenal: Francis Coquelin
Hull: Jake Livermore
Southampton: Virgil Van Dyck
Sunderland: Jack Rodwell
Tottenham: Kyle Walker, Dele Alli, Michel Vorm, Mousa Dembele
Watford: Heurelho Gomes
West Brom: Salomon Rondon
West Ham: Winston Reid, Dimitri Payet, Darren Randolph
None of these players is really black. Some less than half-black, or with some african roots.
Thanks for your report about Sheffield. Will look into it.
But you are right about Palmer, he is indeed black, unlike the ones listed above!

Okay, it is subjective but I don t understand how you can look at that list of players and say they should all appear as white in the game. Obviously with Swos there are two choices, white or black. I think these not really black players are better represented by the black sprite than the white one, rather than saying that all players should be represented as white until their actual skin tone matches the black sprite. Maybe someone else has an opinion.

Yes, I have an opinion.
This is a dangerous mine field. So much good work has been done here, it would be a shame to taint it by going down this particular rabbit hole.
My suggestion? All skin colours are frozen as they are right now. No more official changes. People are still free to edit their own datasets, of course.
P.S. playa, please don t even ATTEMPT to answer the question, what makes a person really black?

Purely theoretically, a way to settle this would be to take the photo from the same source (say, transfermarkt), and find the average skin colour, which could then be compared to swos colors (or better yet, the middle ground between swos colors) to determine should the player be darker or lighter. Of course, I m talking about RGB values, not visual comparison.
