Career mode hangs.... Amibian HDF file

I have tried to play career mode on all of 94/95, 95/96 and 96/97 versions of the game using Amibian on a Raspberry Pi 3 using the a1200 rom from Amiga forever. It allows me to select the team I want to go (Cwmbran Town for some super duper reminiscent loveliness) and it then just goes blank and plays the music. I left it for about 20 minutes in a desperate hopelessness but it was to no avail.

I read a thread on here from years ago but they are talking about setups that are nothing like mine. Any help would be massively appreciated,
