The Limitations of editing was created by cm2pes
Hey all again,

Initially I came here with the intention of looking at the player attributes and the possibility of making a converter (CM to SWOS). I found that Synchronated was doing a fantastic job updating ;). Still I wished to look deeper into them so I had an understanding of them. Thinking of making the 01-02 database for SWOS. But well, why try and do something that is already being done and brilliantly.

I soon decided that I didn t wish to do this. But kept trying to understand the attribute etc. Now I can explain why :P

For my own pleasure :D Not saying it is private, if anybody wants it I would be happy to hand it over. (Might even create a small site/blog to document my progress :) again for my own pleasure) But I want to make myself a Portuguese Mega Database. Now the set up is undecided, but it could be a variety of ways. A converted database from CM from 96 to 2011 (I doubt this format). Possibly a fun (Slightly randomized but with logical attribute) Of all Portuguese leagues, from the top division to all the regional leagues. (Which would certainly fill the SWOS database). Or even a non-fictional database of streets, saints, genres etc... I know its all mad ::) But it is a version of the game I would love to have :D

Now to the title of the thread, the limitations of editing. If I wish to do what I want I need to know exactly what I can change? what I can t change? etc....

So I have some questions :P

Help me.

1. Hex editing can do some wonderful things. One being the limitless career mode. So my question is why doesn t somebody change the .exe then upload it for sharing so that all anybody needs to do is Paste the file over the old .exe? (What I mean by this, is that whether there is copyright issues or anything of the sort?

2. Well what limitations do I have? Can I change amount of teams in a league? Can I change the amount of divisions in a country? (I suspect no because the game might crash).

3. What about renaming Nations? any limitation there?

4. Anything else I need to know about.

5. Also :P Big one, can somebody point me in the direction of how to edit the in game graphics? like the pitches etc.... I have good knowledge of Design Software. Would love some guidance.

6. Regret my profile name choice.... There a way I can change it?

Think that is it for know :D

Thank you

1. Probably because .exe files get changed in many other ways for other reasons, and starting from anything but the default file would cause complications for some. But of course you can still do this yourself if you want

2. Teams per league, yes, as long as your exe is edited to match your team files, but you re pretty much limited in terms of how many teams per country. So for example you can change Italy to current settings (there are enough non-league teams to take up the slack) but not Scotland, as you would need there to be more teams. You can hack up the files and add more teams but to my knowledge this has not been successfully done without career crashes.

3. You can do it as long as the new name is shorter than, or the same length as, the old ones. Due to hex string length. This is also one of the ways of expanding a particular league - if you wanted four divisions in Italy, for example, you could use the English league and just change the names in the executable file. Then find somewhere else to fit England in.

National teams themselves you can do whatever you like with AFAIK.

4. Mainly that the in-game player value calculation comes directly from summing the player skills, and that the player skills are not on a linear scale. Rather, they re:

0=8=awful
1=9
2=10
3=11
4=12
5=13
6=14
7=15=world class

So you only really need to be concerned with 0-7. If you use 8-15 for some skills, the only difference they make is:
- (definitely) only 8-15s will show up in a skill search in the transfer market (and this is done really counterintuitively, so I never use it - an 8 would show up as a specialist skill despite being terrible and a 7 would not show up despite being great)
- (possibly, testing so far is inconclusive AFAIK) giving the player higher wages in career mode

5. There are some tools that enable you to do this, but this is not my area. They re all on these forums somewhere

6. You can try messaging Playaveli. I don t think I can do it but I ll have a look

Cheers

I think this topic comes near to my question.

I ask myself if it is possible to edit a result from a saved game?

The background is as follows: I want to make short Let´s play Videos on youtube. A want to choose a single game time by time and play it before the actual game is played.

I did this once so far with yesterdays game between Dortmund and Hannover -

Now i want to play Dortmund´s next game against Donezk. The first leg was a 2:2 tie and i need this result to play a proper 2nd leg with eventually overtime or penalties. I tried to simulate (made myself a DIY cup) the first game over and over in the hope to reach the correct result, but it doesn´t happened. And now, after an hour of trying, i´m tired ;)

So, is there a way to cheat or edit this result?
Thanks in advance :)

^^ Gute Frage... Grundsätzlich geht das, wenn den DIY-File mit einem Hexeditor bearbeitet. Fragt sich nur welches Offset...
