One year ago Foka and MaroJ had an idea to organize an off-line tournament for Polish players. As beginnings are always difficult they got down to it really carefully. They agreed to keep the tournament low profile so they could handle all organizing issues. That was back in May 2007. 9 players participated at this tournament and it was the first chance to meet players from all over Poland. It was a small tournament but definitely nice one. As it worked fine they decided to give it another try. This time not only couple of “well known” Polish players participated but for the first time ever there were foreign players taking part in Polish off-line tournament. It was a fantastic tournament again and without doubt nobody leaving Wroclaw could complain. At this point it was sure there will be another cup. The only unknown factor was the date. The date is 5th of April.

We didn’t mention earlier who won two previous tournaments. It was done on purpose. It is not result that counts here. Surely we meet to play and everyone wants to win, no doubt about that. However the most important thing is atmosphere. There are no boring moments during tournament. For us this kind of event is a sort of family reunion. We all know each other pretty well. All this time we spend online together makes us know each other better and better. We know where we live, what we study, where we work, if we have wives and kids, etc. Still, online meetings are nothing compared to face to face encounters. Wroclaw Tournament gives us this opportunity. It’s also a great chance to meet our mates from abroad. This year some of them already announced their participation: Bomb, ElMichaj, GEO, Karlos, Marty and Playaveli will hopefully join us. Some more are still considering if they will come.

You are heartily invited to come and have fun with us!!!

Time for some rules now:

It s still more than 2 months before Wroclaw tournament kicks off. Let s have a quick look at not-so-short shortlist of players coming to the tournament.

1. Playaveli - needs no introduction. Everyone coming to Wroclaw would like to leave with his scalp under the belt.
2. ElMichaj - also known as Number One. Founder and admin of ss.de.
3. Bomb - conquered Wroclaw last year (Amiga). Will not let his title away easily.
4. GEO - world class PC player, mustn t be underestimated in Amiga tournament.
5. Marty - PC Wroclaw title holder, red hot favourite for one of the top spots
6. Karlos - not an online player, PC specialist, knocked out by single goal only by Marin P. at Sensidays
7. Dior - Polish Swos legend, great personality
8. Dzem - huge online experience
9. Basto - hungry for Swos after military service
10. Noel - another old-timer, will try to turn his online experience into off-line success
11. Wodiczko

Tournaments on both platforms will be played in 5 groups.

Our foreign guests will be seeded. Depending on how many of them will come (5 of them already confirmed their participation) there will be 4 or 5 Polish players seeded too. There will be a special drawing system to prevent 2 players from same country being drawn in a same group.

GUEST PLAYERS

1. Playavelli
2. Bomb
3. Marty
4. GEO
5. ElMichaj
6. Karlos if he comes

POLISH PLAYERS

AMIGA:

1. Lobo
2. Foka
3. Dzem
4. MaroJ
5. Romaneq (optional)

PC:

1. Romaneq
2. Filip
3. Foka
4. Yoda
5. Zienior (optional)

All remaining players will be added to those groups. Size of groups will depend on total number of players participating. We play 2 times against each other. We expect grup stages to last around 5-6 hours, hopefully they will be finished by 20.00. Group stages will be followed by KO rounds.

EXAMPLE based on 40 players

8 players in each group. Players from places from 6-8 in each group will be joined by 1 player who finished 5th in his group with the worst overall result.
They will play play-offs to qualify for last 32 round:

1. 8A - 5(x)
2. 6D - 8E
3. 6A - 7E
4. 8B - 6C
5. 7B - 7C
6. 6B - 8C
7. 8D - 6E
8. 7A - 7D

As we still don t know exact number of participants those fixtures are subject to change.
The purpose of this play-offs is to end up with 32 players in a next KO round.

Supposing there will be 42 players in a group stage: 42-32=10 10x2=20, that means 20 players have to fight for a place in a last 32 round.
Supposing there will be 37 players in a group stage: 37-32=5 5x2=10 , that means 10 players have to fight for a place in a last 32 round.

Hope I made myself clear. Do not hesitate to contact me or Foka in case of any doubts. ;)

Last 32 round:

9. 1A - game #7 winner
10. 3D - 4E
11. 1C - game #5 winner
12. 3A - 4D
13. 2A - 5B (or game #1 winner)
14. 2C - game #2 winner
15. 3C - 4B
16. game #8 winner - 1D
17. 2E - game #6 winner
18. 2D - 5C (or game #1 winner)
19. 4A - 5D (or game #1 winner)
20. game #4 winner - 1B
21. 2B - 5E(or game #1 winner)
22. 5A (or game #1 winner) - 3E
23. 3B - 4C
24. game #3 winner - 1E

Next KO round (last 16) will be:

25. #9 winner - #10 winner
26. #11 winner - #12 winner
27. #13 winner - #14 winner
28. #15 winner - #16 winner
29. #17 winner - #18 winner
30. #19 winner - #20 winner
31. #21 winner - #22 winner
32. #23 winner - #24 winner

Next KO round (QF)

33. #25 winner - #26 winner
34. #27 winner - #28 winner
35. #29 winner - #30 winner
36. #31 winner - #32 winner

... and so on all the way to the BIG Final.

Becouse of unheard of (since late nineties) huge amount of participants from Poland this tournament will have a status of Polish Championships.
Therefore there will be awards for best 3 Polish players too.

Very nice!
But 5-6 hours for group stage is too optimistic.
I guess it will take between 7 and 9 hours to finish the groups (bear in mind: DIY, and 2 systems on 1 day).
