i m not using an amiga, i m using a laptop! still can t get to the pitch or even just coach a game or result it. . . i can play the megadrive one though, but its pretty rubbish

Does your laptop have 2 ctrl buttons? I ve seen some laptops with only the left ctrl button. And since the fire button is the right one, you are in trouble.
There s a program to switch those buttons though.

check that you are mapping the cursor keys to the joystick (port 1 on emulated amiga) .... this is Keyboard Config B

it sounds like you are navigating the menus with the amiga-keyboard cursors, and not a mapped joystick to me.

Check what Hungry Horace suggested. If you still have problems, maybe you could post a screenshot of your control settings...
