You can use any IRC client! The Dana package is just the easy solution, where channels are already setup. I personally like mIRC better. Instant messengers like Miranda, trillian and so on also have this possibility.

You can also arrange games with players on msn, icq etc. But for tournaments, and the normal chat forum, most people use IRC channel #sensible.
