Cannon Fodder data (pc/DOS) for source port was created by Sheepo99
Hey folks. Me and a few friends were trying to create a multiplatform open source port of the original Cannon Fodder for everyone to enjoy. To make sure it s legal we would like to use the original game data from the PC/DOS version which is still being actively sold via Good Old Games while also supporting the Amiga data. Now the Amiga data is uncompressed which is all fine and dandy, but the PC/DOS data seems to be stored in into some file named cf_eng.dat. Any idea how we can uncompress this in order to get it work with our engine?

That is the amiga version. Like it or not, those distributions aren t exactly legal. We want to reverse engineer the original PC/DOS data. There s no problem with the amiga data because, as I ve already noted, it s uncompressed in plain spritesheets and music files. What we need now is way to get the same thing out of the PC/DOS data. We need someone to help us reverse engineer cf_eng.dat, and since, both games were made by Sensible Software, we were hoping some of the many SWOS editors around here could give us a hand.
