DOSBox Still crashes! was created by AFCMan
Ok,,here s what I ve done,,
Clean install of Total Pack to D: drive as it s virtually empty apart from restoration files.
Tested with a bog standard, crappy old snes-style joypad.
STILL, everytime I go to launch the game from the TotalPack Menu,,,DosBox appears briefly,,then shuts down and returns to the TP menu.
I ve managed to get the WINUAE version of SWOS within TotalPack to work now, thank god!!, but I d still like to have the PC (DOSBox) version up and running as the sound was far superior and the game itself is much more editable and customisable.
Please advise!

I´ve got a same problem when starting the DoxBox. The Box opens shortly but then I come back to the SWOS-Total Pack Main Menue. And the game doesn´t start! I´ve testet many configurations but I doesn´t work... I use Win XP SP3. The WINUAE version of SWOS within TotalPack is working great! When I start DosBox from SWOS Total Pack directory I m able to mount swos directory and play sws.exe without any problems. But still I get get it right using SWOS-Total Pack Main Menu. I tried different directories (C:; c:\program files; C:\games\swostp; E:\games\SWOS Total Pack. No results.
Can anyone help?

I have two solutions:
A) Buy a Win95/98 PC from ebay for 5 bucks and you have a warranty that SWOS works!
Install Windows 95/98 as a second OS on your computer and launch it if you want to play SWOS.
In both cases you won t need Total Pack or a dosbox anymore.
(SWOS is able to handle one USB controller, on Win95/98)

I know that s the simplest solution, but it doesn t help those who have just paid out £££ s for new PC s with Vista or Windows 7 on them and can t afford to splash out again, or those that don t have enough RAM or Hard Drive space to install a second OS on their systems.
I appreciate that you are coming up with some answers, but surely, the easiest thing to do is to rewrie Total Pack to be 100% compatible with the new OS s, or write a seperate Total Pack, just for Vista and 7.
Believe me, it d save a hell of a lot of complaints and Please Help posts on the forums.

If you paid that much for a new PC, there is DEFINITLY enough ram and hard disc space for another OS like Win95 or Win98.
Both only need a few hundret megabytes, which is nothing in the world of todays PC hardware of giga- and terabytes.
And no, it s not easier to rewrite Total Pack. The easiest way is to install another OS.
Just google for a tutorial if you don t have the knowledge how to do this.
Sorry, don t want to sound rude or sth... but don t ask others to work for you (rewrite total pack etc.) if you are too lazy yourself.

If you have Win7, there is XP included, except Home Edition!
