World Championship Soccer 2

Let s start by saying that World Championship Soccer 2 is a game for the Sega Mega Drive and was released in 1994.

What is interesting is that it was developed by none other than Sensible Software, disguised under the pseudonym of The Mystery Chefs , so it s not surprising that it shares some core gameplay mechanics with SWOS.

I didn t even know this game existed but there s some footage of it on YouTube:
It certainly looks rough but it s worth noting that the development process was rushed as the game had to come out in time for the 1994 World Cup.
