Struggling to upload swos on Mac, help please???

I have downloaded boxer and the swos file as suggested. I then import the swos file into boxer set up language and joystick control and finish import. I m then left with a black windowed screen with c/: and at the bottom of the screen a bar with a number of exc files. When I hit swos96.exc file the c/: disappears and I m left with a black windowed screen .
I have downloaded the GOG version but on there I can t use a USB joystick..
Very frustrating as its been 10yrs since I last enjoyed scoring some classic Sensi goals.
All help appreciated.

Thanks all working now, unlike my skills that have deserted me over time... One other question how do I update the data to current teams/players?

Career mode now gives the option of player/coach but once you have picked the team the only option is to view result? Is this a bug with MAC file or something I m doing wrong?

Fixed it myself with some further research on net and on this site, only bug now is a couple of the updated lower league Spanish teams freeze the game if I try and play as them, but that s no biggy. Thanks for all your help I best get practicing for a few months then came back to join on line league or play a few online games!
