I was wondering how do you edit the career files? All im looking to do is change the names of some of the reserve/trialist players. I have extracted my career file from the save.adf disc and I try to open it with a hex editor, but it just crashes, is there another way to do it or is it not possible?

If you want more than 16 real players in squad then you have to program a new SWOS....

i used to hex edit mjy amiga career files all the time using newzap on the amiga, or by using an action-replay III cartridge on my amiga500 and editting the memory directly.

its pretty easy as a i recall, once you get to know some memory locations.

hahaha... from 9 years ago?? you gotta be kidding!

work out the hex value for your teams money, and search for that - its a good starting point.

other than that i remember players stats being stacked up as a small block altogether eg.... FF FF FF FF - where each F represents a different statistic... so this player would have maxed out speed/ tackling etc values! - this MAY have come shortly after their name - but i cannot remember

there is also a byte before the team name... eg. XARSENAL
where X= a byte value 00, 01, or 02 - 01 represents a cpu team, 02 is a human team. some fun (and corruption) can be had switching a second team over to being human in the career mode!

oh, and i seem to rememebr your teams players / stats occuring twice in the memory / file - although i am 99% sure you only need to edit one of them.

i am sure the ACtion Replay III rom can easily be found for use with winuae. it does make things -much- easier

Is this the two players career trick?

There is a Amiga SWOS Career editor.
I still have it (somewhere) on my harddisk in my Amiga computer.
But this editor is only working with SWOS 94/95 and SWOS 95/96.... so NOT with SWOS 96/97 :-[

I can look for more information or upload it if anyone wants it...

Hmm, strange! If it works with 95/96 than 96/97 shouldn t be a problem. Those are the same games. Only different teamdata and few graphic icons.

Please give us more info, and of course, upload it. Thanks!
