Players losing value

Hi!

My question is about the career portion of the game.
I m doing very well in my career in the english first division, winning alot, scoring alot and staying in first place.
My problem is that my players just keep losing value, why?
I m doing great, is there anything I can do to change this?

Aha!

I used to play SWoS to death on my old Amiga 500, and it always annoyed me when a player scored a pile of goals but still went down in value. I always thought the tick and cross were to determine what position players were best suited. Never occured to me it might be linked to value increase or decline. Lol, all the time I had players dropping in value, I had them in the wrong positions.
