Remembering WinUAE Settings (Megadrive Gamepad)

If i play WinUAE Swos using my Sega Megadrive Gamepad (via serial-usb converter):



and set [configuration #1] mode
[device] - [1 microsoft pc-joystick driver]
[axis 1] - [Joy2 horizontal]
[axis 2] - [Joy2 vertical]
[buttons 1-4] - [Joy2 fire/mouse left button 0x00]

this works fine, however the next time i launch WinUAE
everything has reverted back to [Joy1]

does anyone know how you can make these [Joy2] settings stick?

Just in case nobody has a solution, here is what i ve done.

Most of the time I play using the keyboard,
setting [compatibility mode] and [keyboard layout A] which uses the numpad keys
and use a key remapper program to map the numpad to F,C,Z,X,G:



The times I want to play with the Sega Gamepad, i simply have to also launch Xpadder, which i ve configured to map my same keys:



therefore dont need to change any WinUAE settings at all
